Future in Media

Will I Continue in Filmmaking?

Now that Shaam is finished, I find myself thinking about what comes next. This project was my first real attempt at filmmaking, and through all the challenges, I discovered a lot about my creative style, my strengths, and the areas I still need to improve. But the biggest question remains: Do I see myself pursuing this as a career?

What I Loved About Filmmaking

Working on Shaam gave me an appreciation for every aspect of the filmmaking process. From developing a concept to directing actors and crafting visuals, I enjoyed seeing a story take shape. Some of the things I loved the most include:

Visual Storytelling – I realized how much I enjoy creating meaning through visuals, framing, and symbolism. I loved working with lighting (even though I’d invest in better equipment next time) and composing shots that felt cinematic.

Directing & Collaboration – Bringing my friends together, guiding them through performances, and seeing their interpretations of my vision was incredibly rewarding.

Editing & Sound Design – I wasn’t expecting to enjoy post-production as much as I did. The way sound and visuals come together to shape the final product fascinated me.

Challenges That Made Me Reconsider

While this experience was exciting, it also came with its fair share of struggles. The budget constraints, technical difficulties, and stress of managing everything made me question whether I could see myself doing this long-term. If I do continue in media, I know I’d want to gain more technical expertise learning about cameras, lighting, and editing software in a more structured way.

Where Do I Go from Here?

Right now, I don’t have a clear-cut answer about my future in media. But what I do know is:

I want to keep creating. Whether it’s filmmaking, photography, or another form of media, I know I enjoy visual storytelling and want to explore it further.

I want to learn more. If I were to pursue filmmaking seriously, I’d want to study it in-depth, whether through film school, online courses, or hands-on experience with industry professionals.

I’m open to different career paths in media. Directing is one path, but I also found myself interested in cinematography, editing, and film theory while making Shaam. There are many ways to work in media, and I want to keep my options open.

Final Thoughts

Shaam has made me realize that filmmaking is something I truly enjoy but whether it becomes my career or stays a passion is something I’m still figuring out. For now, I’m excited to keep exploring, improving my skills, and seeing where this creative journey takes me.

Who knows? Maybe this is just the beginning. 🎬✨
