Third Day of Shooting

Production Day 3: The Unplanned But Necessary Re-Shoot

Just when I thought filming was finally over, reality hit me. The night shots from Day 2 were unusable. The grainy, low-quality footage would have completely ruined the entire opening scene, and I couldn’t let that happen. As much as I did not want to go through the process again, I knew I had no choice.

After a lot of convincing, schedule-checking, and mental preparation, we planned another shoot two weeks later. This time, I wasn’t taking any chances with the lighting. I asked my dad to arrange proper lights that would actually work for my camera setup. He reached out to some people who asked about my camera and lens so they could send me the right equipment. The lights arrived on the day of the shoot, and the people who dropped them off gave me a quick rundown on how to use them. It seemed simple enough... or so I thought.

Once again, we made the long hour-and-a-half journey to the farmhouse, hoping this would finally be the last time. We started shooting at 5 PM, focusing only on the evening and night scenes since the daytime footage was fine. Everything was going smoothly, the lighting was making a huge difference, and I was starting to feel relieved.

And obviously SOMETHING had to go wrong

In the middle of filming, the light randomly started turning off. One second it was fine, and the next. darkness. It would turn back on, only to shut off again two seconds later. I tried everything to fix it, but nothing worked. At this point, I was beyond frustrated, but I knew this was my last chance to get the shots right. No matter how exhausted or annoyed I was, I had to push through.

To make matters worse, I was also badly injured from a football match the day before. On top of that, I was sick with the flu and fever, making this whole experience even more unbearable. But despite everything, I gave it my all because I knew I wouldn’t get another opportunity.

Finally, the day ended, and even though I wasn’t fully happy with the results, I was just glad it was over. Three shooting days, countless challenges, and way too much stress later, I was finally done filming.
