About Me

Hey there! I’m Hiba Rashid, an AS Level Media Studies student figuring out my way through the world of film and storytelling. I've always been drawn to this subject and had a fascination with media and camera work, my sister took media as her university major and seeing her bring her ideas to life gave me the final spark i needed and I realised media was something i genuinely wanted to explore and pursue.

This blog is basically my little corner on the internet to share what I’m learning and creating this year. I’ll be posting about everything from film theory and analysis to all the ups and downs of working on my own projects. The big goal? To build up to a final piece where I get to create my very own film opening. Think of this blog as a behind the scenes look at my journey the good, the frustrating, and everything in between.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been obsessed with trying new things and learning on the go. At 11, I decided to become a rockstar (sort of) and taught myself how to play guitar using internet tutorials. When I upgraded to an electric guitar, let’s just say the journey wasn’t as smooth as I imagined but hey, I still learned it! Music wasn’t my only love, though.

Sports have always been a huge part of my life. I’ve been playing football since 3rd grade. My school didn’t have a girls' team, so I jumped in with the boys and gave it my all. When I got to high school, volleyball became my new passion, and now I’m proud to say I’m the captain of the team! From football cleats to volleyball spikes, I’ve always found joy in pushing myself to new heights (sometimes literally).

Creativity runs in my family, it’s in our DNA! One of my sisters is all about fashion and textile, and the other pursued media studies. Naturally, I was drawn to these creative worlds too. Maybe I’m following in their footsteps, but I like to think I’m carving my own path. Media has always fascinated me, and it feels like the perfect blend of my love for storytelling, visuals, and trying (sometimes failing) new things.
